Today's Adventure

With such a crazy day yesterday, today was obviously going to be a bumpy ride, starting with chores and such, and more specifically Nyah refusing to do her chores. One day out of our routine and you would think we've never had to do chores before, or that I'm asking her to clean the whole house instead of her own bedroom.

So after "The Battle" (such a little phrase for all that drama), I obviously had little patience and capability for much more. So we did a relaxed school day: for handwriting I let the kids write their names in hieroglyphs from Write Like an Egyptian (we watched a Nova show last night called "Cracking the Maya Code" which piqued their interest), then we did Math, and reading for our foreign country study of Japan (Japan: the Culture),and we started a fun book about Monet (Linnea in Monet's Garden).

Then I decided we needed to get out of the house, so we went to a park for a picnic. I know what you are thinking "I thought she was tired of parks." Yes, I am tired of some parks, namely parks with swings, so we went to a park without swings today. I love being able to hang out on a blanket soaking up the sunshine while my kids come and go without any expectations of me playing with them. Is that a horrible mommy confession? But of course that isn't exactly how things went, because of Miss Jolie, who is no longer content hangning out on the blanket with me. But after some great playground play on the kids part and tiresome follow-the-baby on my part, we headed for the trail and fishing pond which were the main reasons for picking this particular park.

My snuggler lounging with me while he eats.

Jolie was happy to climb on the stroller for a little while.

It was fun to see all the dads at the fishing pond with their kids in baby car seats, strollers, or fishing too. Of course, pulling my kids away from the fishing pond caused even more drama- my kids wanted to stay so they could see someone catch a fish and I'm not sure my explanation that it was likely going to be a long time before anyone caught a fish was believed by them, but overall we had a great time.

Wow, I know it's probably really hard work to be a mom, but it looks great to me! I hope the rewards outweigh the hard stuff. :)

Oh, and I was also wondering if you have thought about what book you want to read next month for the book club yet? I just want to let people know as soon as I can so they can find copies. No huge rush, just wanted to remind you it's your month. Also, can you send me an invite to view your site to heapofloser@yahoo.com? That way I can post comments under just "Jesse" Thanks!
