Shoes!
First, of course, I feel the need to point out that Sophie does not have a fat, bleeding lip. She's been eating a crayon, colored pencil, or marker this morning. Yum. I'm not sure which one. Even though its only 7:15am, the three little ones have been very productive. Or maybe destructive? I haven't been to investigate walls and such yet. Well, anyways, ignorance is bliss right?
Now on to the reason for blogging this morning:
The other night our power went out. It happened after dark so the house went completely black. Sophie and I sat on the couch together while Kurt headed off to find flashlights. We saw a light flashing a minute later and Sophie took off to investigate. Kurt gave Sophie a flashlight and she ran back to me to show it off. She chattered to me all about it and then raced off, then came racing back to tell me all about her adventures. Repeat.
A few moments later, Sophie headed down the hall and went around the corner. I heard her say, "SHOES!" The light flashed around wildly and then lay still, abandoned on the floor. I could here her charging back to me in the dark, her little legs moving as fast as possible, her diaper swishing. She slammed into me and the couch with her new sneakers. "SHOES!" she demanded. I helped her put them on.
I guess some things are more important to sweet little Sophie than being able to see.
Christmas
I can't find our pictures of Christmas morning. Sad.
So here are some shots of this past week:
Olivia & Jolie playing with new Polly Pocket dolls & house. They refuse to change out of their pajamas. Thankfully they received a couple sets.
Austin with his Legos. He is loving his new book- The Lego Ideas Book.
Nyah & Sophie hanging out. They've been playing with their new things too.
Kurt playing new playstation game.
I've been reading and reading and reading, and going for a run now and then to keep me sane :)
Happy New Year!

Happy Holidays!
I can't believe Christmas is over already! It went so fast. We are having a wonderful holiday break- Kurt has the week off and we are enjoying the peaceful quiet of hanging out at home.
Did I just use "peaceful" and "quiet" to describe our home? BWAHAHAHAHAHA. HA.
Hope you are all enjoying the holidays where ever you may be :)

I am never alone
And most of the time I like it that way. But there are a few moments during the day when it would be nice if no one was knock-knocking on my door.

Bazinga!
Be glad your not on the receiving end of this look, as I frequently am. What was my offense? *Trying* to keep her off the counter while I was making dinner.
It was very challenging to get a picture of this look- every time Sophie sees a camera she starts smiling and posing.

What happened Dad?
Kurt hurt his knee at his hockey game the other night in typical hockey-playing style someone slammed into him and his knee went the wrong way. Not good. Kurt has explained to our kids how it happened, many times and in extensive detail, and Jolie still asks, "What happened to your leg, Dad?"

Get me out of here!
I've been feeling a little cooped up. Some of us have been sick, Kurt's been late a few nights, no one wants to play in the cold (and it's not even that cold yet), there's only so much tv time I
can handle, and my days are starting to stretch on f-o-r-e-v-e-r. So tonight we're escaping. Ice cream cones and play time. Ah, how nice.

Surprise!
We were having a nice, quiet morning of school when I glimpsed this sitting on top of the aquarium:
It looks remarkably like this:
Have I ever mentioned the best thing I like about our tarantula is that it NEVER needs to come out of the aquarium? Just a little bit of freaking out. Just a little. You know, until I realized what a dork I was being.
Austin is always trying to sneak up on me and scare me, and it never works because he's so noisy. He's quite pleased with himself this morning.
In other tarantula related news (wasn't that smooth?), our laundry folding movie today is Home Alone - click through to youtube to watch the tarantula scene. My kids haven't watched thsi movie before - I wonder how they'll react :)
Also, I don't think I've posted this before, but FYI (cause I know your dying to find out), our tarantula's name is Galvantula.

Guess what...
I just caught Sophie doing?!
Thank goodness I already have a few boxes of Mr. Clean Magic Erasers- WALL SAVERS!!
Climb climb climb
My kids are climbers, every single one. I can't keep their feet on the ground. This has caused many bumps, bruises, concussions, stitches, staples, and the shopping cart fall skull fracture. Have I mentioned I worry about my kids? I do. I really do.

Miss Jo
I am going insane and Miss Jo is to blame.
Yesterday and today she has:
Dumped out all the toys we just cleaned up.
Pulled all the bedding off the beds in her room.
Shot me in the forehead with a nerf gun.
Poured a glass of water on the counter so she could dance in it.
Climbed on the counter to sneak marshmallows, fruit snacks, and more.
Climbed on the washing machine to get the dog's leash and drag him around the house.
Locked her sisters outside.
Took the crickets we feed the tarantula into her bedroom so she could play with them.
Toilet papered the living room.
Threw crayons in the Christmas tree.
Tormenting her siblings as only a pesky little sister can- poking, copying, bugging and so on.
Oh my. If I ever have 5 minutes of peace and quiet I know I'm going to find Jolie in the middle of a giant mess.
Today I told not to touch something and she said okay and then reached for it. I told her not to touch it again and she said okay and then reached for it again.
"Jolie look at me! What did I say?"
"Don't touch"
We stood there for a moment and then she reached for it again and said "Mom go away!"
And while I was combing her hair this morning:
Jolie: Mom, my nose is red!
Me: A red nose? Are you Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer?
Jolie: Oh! I tooted!
Me: Ok, but your nose is red, are you Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer?
Jolie: No, I'm the reindeer who tooted!!
It's a miracle I have a shred of sanity left!!!

Hello Again
Thank you to everyone who checks out our blog even when I haven't been posting.
We've been busy with life- appointments, activities, holidays, housework, school and so on.
Today we are trapped in a little room waiting for the doctor to look at Sophie's never ending diaper rash. They've almost finished all the snacks I brought. 3 kids and only 1 toy.
Can you imagine how much fun I'm having?
