Hike with our Friends

This past week we went on a hike with some of our friends - I don't know if anyone ever did a headcount, but there were lots of kids running around!
Olivia and Jolie insisted on stopping to look at everything so we ended up at the back of the pack.  This was okay with us! There was lots to see!
We stopped for a picnic in a beautiful little meadow - can you imagine all the mom's panicking as kids headed off in every direction?
Sophie was SO happy to get out of our carrie. She had lots of mud, grass, flowers, sticks, and rocks to taste!
 Playing in the water
 Isn't this group adorable?
It's hard to hide when you have your little sisters following you everywhere!
 My girls are darling!
 Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful!
On our way back Jolie hooked up with some boys searching for roly-polies
 Nyah and a new friend
Kids and water = lots of fun!

We had a fabulous time and plan on going back soon.  Watch for a post coming soon to our homeschool blog to see all the interesting things we discovered!

Yesterday . . .

Kurt watched the kids ALL. DAY. LONG. so I could attend a Power of Moms Retreat. It was held in the home of my favorite parenting authors - Richard and Linda Eyre.  Their daughter Saren, and her friend April, are the co-founders of Power of Moms.

It was FABULOUS!!

And I came home to everyone alive and well, and already eating dinner :)
Thank you Kurt!

Happy Birthday to our Jo-Jo!

Jolie's birthday was a week ago.  She's 3 years old!  Thank you to everyone who sent cards and presents.  She had a fun day and all the kids liked playing with the gifts!

The great outdoors are calling!

We have had some beautiful weather this week so we've spent lots of time outside.  I've figured out that the pictures on my phone upload sideways, even if they aren't sideways on my phone, and when I fix it and save it, for some reason they only upload sideways.  I don't know why.  But Sophie is too darn cute to miss even if she is sideways.

Checking out the sandbox

Olivia and Jolie think its warm enough to wear their swimsuits and play in the water.  Crazy girls!

This week

All the sideways pictures are from my phone :(  I wish I could figure out how to get them straightened out.

We had Kurt's mom, Karla, visiting us for a few days.  Its always great to have her and we had a good time while she was here, including a trip to Thanksgiving Point to go to the farm and dino museum.

The kids are very entertained by our tarantula and FOR NOW the little girls don't know how to open the tank.  I don't think they would intentionally set him free, but I have a feeling its inevitable. We haven't picked a name yet.
Sophie is a HAM when she sees the camera.
The kids and I went to the farm again - Olivia didn't get to go with Grandma because she was sick - so more photos of the kids riding the ponies - YEAH! I'm sure you've missed these pictures during the winter months.  It was a beautiful day and we had a great time running around to visit the baby animals.

This weekend Kurt and I did TONS of cleaning up in the house and yard - feels good to have so much done.  Everyone was happy to be outside in the sun - even though we all have sunburns.

Sophie exploring the unchartered territory of laundry.
Saturday evening Kurt and I went on a date to the Tulip Festival with our favorite side kick.  It was beautiful and we enjoyed strolling around (even with the Mother's Day crowds).

Here comes another week - full steam ahead!!
